A unique scheme under the title "Know your Case" scheme has been launched in all the police stations of Chandigarh from June 1, 2013. The idea behind this scheme is to bring greater transparency and accountability in police functioning. The complainant of a criminal case or a complaint has the right to know the status of investigations/inquiries of the case/petition.

For this purpose, 2nd Saturday of every month has been fixed as the "Know Your Case" day.

On that day the SHO alongwith all the I/Os and I/C Beats will remain present in the police station from 10 am to 2 pm. During this perid, complainant and petitioners would be at the liberty to discuss the case/petition with the I/O and be apprised of the status of the same. The SHO shall personally remain present and supervise these proceedings.

The SDPO of each Sub Division will also personally review this process by spending equal time in each police station of his Sub Division on this day. He will also interact with the complainants and petitioners to ensure the efficiency of this scheme. A booklet titled "Know Your Case" containing features of this scheme and statical data has been published.
